Specialized Dementia Interventions Activities and End of life Care

This course is designed for caregivers working in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) who support residents living with dementia. The training focuses on practical, compassionate strategies for engaging residents in meaningful activities tailored to various stages of cognitive decline. Caregivers will learn how to design and facilitate therapeutic interventions—such as memory boxes, reminiscence therapy, and sensory stimulation—that promote emotional well-being and quality of life. The course also addresses the sensitive topic of end-of-life care, equipping staff to recognize non-verbal signs of pain or distress, provide comfort, and support families during the grief process.

Emphasizing person-centered care, this training aligns with the most current California Title 22 regulations for direct care staff and incorporates best practices from federal guidelines. The content is presented in clear, accessible language, focusing on real-world caregiving challenges and solutions. By the end of the course, caregivers will feel more confident in their ability to enhance daily life for residents with dementia and provide compassionate support during end-of-life transitions.
