Behavioral Support and Positive Interventions

This course provides direct care staff in Adult Residential Facilities (ARFs) with practical, person-centered strategies for supporting adults who display challenging behaviors. Focusing on positive behavioral support, the training helps caregivers understand behavior as a form of communication and equips them with tools to identify triggers, prevent escalation, and respond effectively. Participants will learn how to create supportive environments, use positive reinforcement, and apply natural consequences to encourage appropriate behaviors.

The course emphasizes the development and consistent implementation of individualized behavior support plans, as well as the importance of thorough documentation. Designed specifically for caregivers working in California ARFs, the content aligns with the latest Title 22 regulations and addresses real-world scenarios caregivers encounter daily. By the end of this course, participants will be better prepared to promote safety, dignity, and quality of life for adults in their care, while maintaining compliance with state and federal standards.
