Trauma-Specific Intervention Techniques

This course equips Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) caregivers with practical, trauma-specific intervention skills to support youth with trauma histories. Building on trauma-informed care principles, the training focuses on real-world techniques that help staff recognize, respond to, and reduce trauma-related distress in daily care. Caregivers will learn how to identify trauma triggers, implement grounding and calming strategies, and develop safety plans tailored to individual needs. The course also addresses the complexities of trauma responses, including emotional dysregulation and behavioral challenges, and provides step-by-step guidance for supporting youth in building healthy coping mechanisms.

Designed for direct care staff in STRTP settings, this course emphasizes evidence-based approaches that promote healing, safety, and trust. All content aligns with the latest California Title 22 regulations for caregivers, ensuring compliance and best practices. By the end of the training, participants will have the confidence and skills to create supportive environments, respond effectively to trauma symptoms, and contribute to the recovery and well-being of youth in their care.
