A resident with poorly managed diabetes develops a foot wound that becomes infected; a resident with epilepsy has a seizure during a meal and staff don't know the protocol. These are not hypotheticals — they are the kinds of preventable crises that generate APS reports, CDSS citations, and family lawsuits. This 2-hour course addresses the physical care knowledge ARF administrators need to prevent these outcomes: food service compliance under Title 22 (three meals per day, documented menus, special diet management for diabetes, epilepsy, obesity, and therapeutic needs), chronic condition monitoring protocols for epilepsy, diabetes, obesity, bedridden residents, and postural support needs, and the Medi-Cal and managed care funding mechanisms that support resident health services. California AB 1172 (2025) — which requires individual seizure action plans in community care facilities — is addressed in detail, including what administrators must have on file for every resident with a seizure disorder.
