Medication Administration and Health Monitoring

This course provides direct care staff in Adult Residential Facilities (ARFs) with the essential knowledge and practical skills required for safe medication administration and effective health monitoring. Designed specifically for caregivers working with adults with disabilities or mental health conditions, the training focuses on legal responsibilities, safety protocols, and person-centered care. Participants will learn to recognize and respond to medication side effects and adverse reactions, understand the importance of accurate documentation, and communicate effectively with healthcare providers.

The course also addresses how to support residents’ understanding of their medications, encourage compliance, and respect their rights and preferences. All content is anchored in the latest California Title 22 regulations for ARF caregivers, ensuring legal compliance and best practices. By the end of this course, caregivers will be equipped to confidently manage medication-related tasks, promote resident safety, and contribute to a supportive, health-focused environment.

Teaching Methods

Teaching methods will include the use of multiple video presentations, ebook, and PDF accompanying question/answer sections. Upon completion of the course, key points and references are available in a PDF format for students to refer to post-class and use in their business. A certificate of completion will be provided at the end of each course.

Method of Course Evaluation by Participants: 

There will be a required course evaluation form before a certificate is awarded.

Method of Evaluating Participants:

For each credit hour, there will be 4 quizzes consisting of 5 questions each pertaining to the testing of knowledge of the module.
