Infection Control Essentials for RCFE Caregivers
This course is designed to equip Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE) caregivers in California with the essential knowledge and skills to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases within their communities. Focusing on practical, day-to-day tasks, the curriculum covers hand hygiene, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and the fundamentals of bloodborne pathogen safety. Special attention is given to current protocols for COVID-19, including isolation procedures and outbreak response strategies tailored to the unique needs of elderly residents. The course also provides clear guidance on environmental cleaning and disinfection, emphasizing high-touch surfaces and shared spaces to maintain a safe and healthy environment for both residents and staff.
All content is aligned with the latest California Title 22 regulations specific to RCFE caregivers, ensuring compliance and best practices. This training is ideal for direct care staff, caregivers, and aides working in RCFE settings who are responsible for the health and safety of vulnerable older adults. By the end of the course, participants will feel confident in their ability to implement infection control measures, respond to potential outbreaks, and protect themselves and those in their care.
