Age Related Changes and Health Monitoring
This course is designed for caregivers and direct care staff working in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) in California. It provides essential knowledge and practical skills to support healthy aging and monitor residents’ health status effectively. Caregivers will learn to distinguish between normal age-related changes and warning signs that may indicate illness or medical emergencies. The course covers common health conditions affecting older adults, such as arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, and sensory impairments, with a focus on how these conditions impact daily care and resident safety.
Participants will gain hands-on strategies for observing, documenting, and communicating changes in residents’ appetite, sleep, mobility, and overall well-being. The training emphasizes person-centered care, fall prevention, and timely reporting of health concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals. By completing this course, caregivers will be better equipped to provide safe, compassionate, and compliant care, while supporting the dignity and independence of each resident. The content is aligned with current California Title 22 regulations and federal standards, ensuring both regulatory compliance and best practices in elder care.
